My daughter, Emory was diagnosed with language, speech, and processing disorders in first grade. Lynn Schaftlein was recommended by the school and we'd heard many good things about her. Emory related to her instantly. Lynn was quick to recognize Emory's strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan that worked within Emory's capabilities. She began with the underpinnings of reading and after establishing a solid base, began working on the mechanics of writing and sentence structure. Lynn always communicated after each session, and gave us an update as to where Emory was and what her goals were. Emory enjoyed and looked forward to going to see Lynn, who made therapy fun! As a result, I believe Emory progressed much more rapidly than if we'd had to fight to get her to go. She worked hard, became well rounded in her reading and writing skills, and learned a number of strategies that carried her through Middle School without further support.
